Brain Quest Blast Off for iPhone
by admin on Oct.02, 2009, under News, Reviews, Software, iphone
If you have a child in elementary school, you’re probably familiar with Brain Quest: it is most visible in the children’s book sections of bookstores, in the spot reserved for educational items that aren’t quite books but aren’t quite toys, either. In physical form, Brain Quest is a deck of attached cards. The long, thin cards have questions on the front and answers on the back. There’s no “object” to flipping through the cards and tossing questions to your kids, except to interact and learn and think. You don’t score points. You either get the question right or wrong, and then you move on. Simple, but deceptively fun and addictive.
Educate Me: Each of the Brain Quest subjects provide a variety of question/answer formats, including multiple choice, word scramble, fill-in-the-blank, right or wrong, and ‘fun’— which is a flash card reviewWhile the Brain Quest decks edge closer to the “Edu” side of the “edutainment” equation, the iPhone games based on this question-answer format fall closer to the “tainment” side.

The following is long winded, somewhat complex, and for iPhone 3Gs users only.
Here is a small summary: Try not to upgrade to the 3.1 software if you want to be able to keep the ability to Jailbreak or unlock your iPhone 3Gs. & Make the necessary iTunes adjustments to “future-proof” your 3Gs Jailbreak.
Still a Camera Possible for the iPod Touch
by admin on Sep.21, 2009, under Ipod, Reviews

Although Apple’s latest release of the iPod Touch 3G was not quite as good as it should have been, this little bit of news cheered me up. Apple was rumored to have had manufacturing problems with iPod Touch and was therefore unable to release it with a video camera. PCW reports that a update BY CHRISTMAS may include a this highly coveted Video Camera
I’ve also heard that Apple wants to have these things in full production by Christmas and that they’ve made only a few months of camera-less models to tide the market over until the new ones are ready.
PCW also offers some more information by hypothesizing that:
The conventional wisdom is that Apple will put the camera into the higher end iPods ($299/$399 – 32GB/64GB) only and leave the $199 model to be a 2nd-gen model. The higher end iPods have the processor speed and the Open GL 2.0 capabilities to do video, the 2nd Gen does not. This is exactly the same pricing/feature structure as exists on the iPhone.
Based on this, my advice is to wait for just a few more months and see what happens.

Frame-rate issue mars otherwise engaging tank battle game
However civil you are to your neighbors, co-workers, friends, and loved ones, there’s probably a part of you that wants to lead a mighty war machine into battle, level up, collect upgrades and emerge triumphant despite impossible odds. That doesn’t necessarily mean you’re not a nice person, someone who regularly brings good homemade chili to meetings and parties.
